At Grace Counseling, we are proud of the accomplishments of our therapists. Recently, our very own Dr. Amy King was featured in an article on EdSurge.com. When Dr. King was writing her doctoral dissertation, she chose the topic “Where do we fit? Challenges Faced by First-Generation College Students in Professional Psychology”, something near and dear to her heart.
Dr. King’s paper addresses three main issues that First Generation College Students face: Different Worlds, Figuring It Out, and Finding Support. She suggests ways graduate programs can better serve these students, and go beyond just serving but truly supporting them.
