Have you ever had the fear, “Maybe I am just not good enough”? Do you find yourself wondering why you keep hearing from the women in your life: “You seem so distant. I feel like I don’t truly know who you are”? You might be like some men, who become so focused on performance goals that they miss out on other important aspects of their lives. In an attempt to regain a sense of competence they try to control outcomes in their relationships only to be met with more things to control. Maybe you feel the need to hide certain behaviors from the people in your life who care about you. Many men turn to alcohol, sex, gambling, pornography and high-risk behaviors to prove that they are capable, powerful and worthy of respect. Often, men wonder what healthy masculinity really looks like in today’s world. If any of these statements resonate with you, know that you are not alone. Far from it, actually.
I have worked with thousands of men over that last six years who have struggled with these questions and behaviors. I have seen how fear can be a powerful influence in the lives of my clients who are so afraid to look weak or ask for help. Too often my clients find themselves overwhelmed by their circumstances, running into destructive patterns.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over six years of experience, I have worked with countless men who have gained a new perspective on the power of being able to express their thoughts and emotions as a means of building deeper connection with the people in their lives. I have led men’s and women’s groups where clients were able to increase their self-awareness, live out of their core values, build a solid support system, and learn assertive communication skills.
I aspire to create a safe place where you will not be met with judgment or a list of things that you need to do in order to find success. I like to engage in authentic conversations about life, joys and struggles, and everything in between. We will work together to help you find the courage to live the life you have been wanting to live. Life does not have to look like this. Let’s explore ways to change the patterns of behaviors that have led to disconnection with yourself and the people you love.
If what I am saying hits a nerve with you, let’s talk. I’d love to help you in this journey.
