“I will never be good enough.”
It’s the familiar heaviness that seems to say that you are too much, while at the same time saying that you are not enough. Maybe things would be better off without you. These dark and heavy thoughts have gotten louder and more frequent, joined by a nagging anxiety that keeps you up at night and a heavy fog that makes you want to stay in bed all day.
I am familiar with these places. I have walked through these dark places in my own journey, and have walked with others through their darkness. I know what it is like to feel like a disappointment, to feel “less than” and to be hopeless. I know what it’s like to reach the bottom and to feel empty, like a shell of a human. You are not alone in your suffering, and you do not have to walk through this alone any longer.
For over a decade I have worked with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I have been privileged to sit with tweens, teens, and adults in their darkest hours and walk with them toward health and wholeness. I am earning my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Denver Seminary, and will graduate in May 2021. Before attending graduate school, I ran a nonprofit designed to help struggling adolescents.
My passion is to help young people as they navigate complex family dynamics, expectations around academics and performance, social pressure and bullying, body-image issues, LGBTQ+ topics, spirituality, and more. Navigating the realities of changing life stages can be scary, painful, and isolating. I want to help you work toward healing even in the midst of difficult transitions. I also geek out on research, and work hard to find and provide the most effective methods and treatments for my clients, because you are worth it.
My approach is person-centered, while using DBT and other skills into therapy. Each client is unique, so each therapeutic plan is uniquely tailored to each client. The therapeutic relationship is a precious space for you to get what you need. My desire is to help you feel seen, heard, and safe. Together we will build up your tools and techniques, and empower you to achieve your therapeutic goals. We will work together not just so you can survive this season, but so you can thrive.
