“It takes time to grow.”
This one simple sentence has kept me grounded in how I see life experiences.
If you think back to early experiences in your childhood, you can see that we take time to learn how to eat, sit, crawl, walk, run, and do just about everything else. It takes time for us to learn about this brand new world and how we can function and navigate it. However, we don’t always allow ourselves to have time to grow psychologically and mentally.
We are not born with all the knowledge, awareness, and insight about how to live our best lives. It takes time and courage to get there. We are not born to know who we are, what we want in life, and how to cope with situations that are unexpected, distressing, and overwhelming.
It takes time and compassion to allow us to experience our emotions and feelings. It takes time and effort to learn all these life lessons. It takes time to grow and it takes time to understand ourselves.
And that’s where psychological testing comes in.
- Maybe there is something that has been bothering you for so long, and you can’t quite get an answer as to what it is.
- Maybe some diagnosis has been made for you by other providers, yet it still seems to be unclear and you are looking for more in-depth recommendations.
- Maybe your children or yourself are struggling in some important aspects of life such as work, school, social and family life, and need a professional evaluation and feedback.
Psychological testing at Grace Counseling aims to utilize a holistic approach by using objective and projective assessment tools, along with clinical interviews to obtain the whole picture about you and who you are. An evaluation may include intelligence tests as well as assessments of attention, memory, reasoning, and thinking skills. With all this information, we hope to help you reach a deeper understanding of yourself, and help you learn how to support yourself in important aspects in life such as your career, academic, social, and emotional well-being.
Psychological testing can also be helpful for IEPs, court, or medical needs. We also do testing for ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, as well as nonverbal learning disorders and processing disorders.
