Marriage & Family Therapist Candidate

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from working with teenagers in therapy, it’s that my adolescent clients and their parents are some of the bravest, most intelligent, and most resilient people I’ve ever known. Middle school and high school students today are bombarded with high expectations from family, friends, school and society, while at the same time they are often disregarded as being stubborn, rude, lazy or ignorant. They’re pressured to be perfect, while also told they’re destined to fail. So many teenagers wonder “is life really worth living?” or “am I the only one who feels this way?” And so many parents find themselves thinking “why does it feel so impossible to connect with my son/daughter?” or even “I must be the worst parent in the world.”

I’ve seen firsthand in my own life, and in my work as a therapist, that it is possible to get your joy back. It is possible for your family to heal. I’ve seen teenage guys and girls come into my office barely able to get out of bed in the morning, and after putting in the hard work of therapy I’ve watched them take back their lives and feel whole again. I am passionate about helping teenagers and their parents experience greater empathy towards one another, and bridging gaps in communication within families that feel lost in translation.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate, I offer reduced cost counseling to adolescents, adults, and families struggling with suicidality, self-harm, substance use, anxiety, depression, and family conflict. I have experience working in an intensive outpatient program and specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

My approach to therapy is to first and foremost have your voice be heard in my office. I won’t pretend to be the expert on your life the minute you walk in the door. I seek for my clients to feel truly seen by me, without judgement. It is from that space of safety that we will work together to figure out new, specific ways to approach the areas in your life and in your relationships where you feel stuck. My warm yet direct personality allows me to bring joy into the therapeutic process, which leads to strong relationships with my clients based on trust and mutual respect. This is when true change can occur.

If you or your family need help in these areas, I would be honored to get to work with you whether that be in individual or family therapy. If you have any questions or want to know more, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
