Are you tired of feeling stuck and no one around you seems to be able to help? You struggle to feel close to others – either desperately needing them to validate you, or hating the pain that they cause you when they don’t. Emotions can hit you like a ton of bricks, sending you reeling, then even to the point of wanting to hurt yourself, or simply end things. Do you feel stuck in a cycle of anger, shame, fear, and guilt? You can’t find your way out and of course may feel that you’re destined to live a life of pain, all alone.
I can help you find your way. Having spent thousands of hours providing both group and individual therapy to people struggling with these very concerns, I have had the privilege of working with patients stuck in the very same spot. Many clients have spent time in and out of the hospital, institutions, and therapy as a result of their struggles. I have seen them do the hard work of therapy, and of course find their way to peace, stability, and better relationships.
We will facilitate growth by helping you develop specific skills to improve how you manage your feelings and interact with other people. I correspondingly approach the skills training with a view that often my patients have not ever had adequate guidance and teaching from their early caregivers. Skills training additionally helps bridge those gaps.
During the course of therapy, we work to identify, understand and make changes to the way you view your emotions, and improve the ways you relate with other people. Then often the way you learned to live your life was deeply impacted by experiences of pain – invalidation, criticism, manipulation, abuse, neglect. The list can go on. We moreover work together in therapy to help you heal from the past. Join me and I can help you find your way to peace, stability, and better relationships.
